I have not but if you look or best yet download the plans you will see that it says the hull will weigh in at 100 pounds. With quality Hydrotex Marine Ply you could get it down to around 80 to 90 pounds. Don't skimp on ply. Get the best. You will be a happy camper if you do. I think 2 sheets of the Hydortex will do it for this boat and at $28 per sheet thats pretty cheap. Use what is suggested for the main ribs and keel. Don't skimp period. For a couple hundred bucks you could have a real nice hydro that will last a lifetime. And it will look good because of the quality ply used. You can finish it in natural wood and give it a coat of glass and epoxy the use a very high quality marine varnish with high UV protection over that and buff it out to a high gloss for a top notch look. Paint the bottom for added protection but glass and epoxy the whole outside of the boat. No need to do that to the inside. Just protect the inside with good quality marine paint. Do it right the first time and you will be happy. Heck it will look so dang good you may not want to even use it. Heck use it anyway thats what it's for. Let every one else drool over it's looks.

Go for it. Take your time and measure 5 times and cut once because you can't add wood but you can take it away.

Go for it because they are not that hard to build. It's small and a good project. You could have it done before the middle of the summer or sooner if you start now. Don't listen to anyone else. Build it and enjoy it.
